What is the meaning of the Prophet Muhammad's saying, peace be upon him: "Al-Hasan is from me, and Al-Husayn is from Ali"? And does this imply a superiority of Al-Hasan over Al-Husayn?

This Hadith indicates a virtue for Al-Hasan over Al-Husayn, may Allah be pleased with them both. Its meaning is that Al-Hasan resembled the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Al-Husayn resembled Ali. This resemblance is mostly spiritual, and it has been said that Al-Hasan was predominantly characterized by forbearance and penitence, while Al-Husayn was characterized by boldness and great courage, like Ali. It has also been said that this resemblance was physical. There is some discussion regarding the chain of narration of this Hadith.
