Is the Hadith, "Hussain is from me, and I am from Hussain," authentic, and what is the meaning of "and I am from Hussain"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It has not been established that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Husayn is from me, and I am from Husayn." Rather, this saying has been established regarding:

1. Ali ibn Abi Talib: "Indeed, Ali is from me, and I am from him." 2. Julaybib (upon his martyrdom): "This one is from me, and I am from him." 3. The Ash'aris (due to their unity and cooperation): "For they are from me, and I am from them."

The meaning of "is from me, and I am from him" is an exaggeration of their unity and agreement in obedience to Allah.
