Should a person cease seeking forgiveness if he fails to lower his gaze and knows that he will return to this disobedience due to the intensity of his desires?

Lowering the gaze from forbidden things is a religious obligation, and a Muslim must strive against their lower self and stay away from places where forbidden sights are present. If a relapse occurs, they must hasten to sincere repentance and renew their resolve, for Allah forgives sins and accepts repentance no matter how often it is repeated, as stated in the noble Hadith: "My servant knows that he has a Lord who forgives sins and holds him accountable for them? I have forgiven My servant." One should resolve not to return to the sin, fearing that death might overtake them while they are in disobedience.

For steadfastness and perseverance in repentance, the following are recommended:

1. Persistent supplication for steadfastness, such as: "O Turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion."

2. Avoiding places of sin and bad company, and associating with righteous people who help in obedience, as Allah Almighty says: "And keep yourself patient with those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His countenance."

3. Constantly remembering Allah's watchfulness, for He knows the treachery of the eyes, as Allah Almighty says: "And He is with you wherever you are, and Allah is Seeing of what you do."
