If there is no legitimate reason for seeking divorce, it is not permissible for a woman to seek it, nor should she obey her mother in this matter. However, if there is a legitimate justification, such as the husband's immorality, then it is permissible for her to seek divorce; indeed, in such a case, she must obey her mother.
