A man died leaving a daughter and a full brother. How is the inheritance divided?

If the heirs are limited to a daughter and a full brother, then the daughter receives half as a prescribed share, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if there is only one, she will have half." The remainder is taken by the full brother by way of ta'sib (residuary inheritance), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them, and whatever remains is for the closest male relative."

Note: The matter of inheritances is serious and complex; a mere fatwa is insufficient. Rather, it must be referred to the Sharia courts for investigation, as there might be other heirs, wills, or debts that take precedence over the rights of the heirs. Therefore, an estate should not be divided without consulting the Sharia courts.
