If the purpose of the groups is to advise on regular Quranic recitation and to encourage group members to persevere, then there is no harm in it; rather, it is a form of cooperation in righteousness and piety. However, if the purpose is a collective ختم (completion of recitation), this was not part of the guidance of the righteous predecessors.
