Is it permissible to write an amount greater than 14,000 EGP in a trust receipt as compensation for delay and damages?

It is Islamically impermissible to increase the original debt amount for a procrastinating debtor, as this is a form of prohibited Riba (usury/interest). As for what the creditor expends to collect his debt, such as lawyer's fees, these are borne by the solvent debtor who is capable of repayment. However, if the debtor is in straitened circumstances, it is not permissible to take his case to court; rather, he must be given respite until his situation eases, based on the Almighty's saying: "And if there is one in [financial] difficulty, then [let there be] a delay until [a time of] ease."
