A mother gifting gold to one of her daughters to the exclusion of others is an act of injustice in gifting. Similarly, gifting gold to daughters without giving sons what would achieve fairness is also unjust. Justice in gifting is obligatory according to our view. If injustice occurs from the mother, she should be advised gently and kindly, especially since the obligation of justice in gifting is not a matter of consensus among jurists; it is a matter of ijtihad (independent reasoning).
