What is the way for someone I love for the sake of Allah to love me back, when they do not reciprocate the same feeling? And does someone saying "I want you" mean that they love me? And what is the difference between love and dignity (or self-respect)?

Love for the sake of Allah and hatred for the sake of Allah are among the best acts of drawing near to Him. The meaning of love for the sake of Allah is that a Muslim loves his brother for his faith and obedience. Many proofs have been narrated regarding the virtue of love for the sake of Allah, among them is the saying of Allah the Almighty: "They love those who emigrated to them," and the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "And two men who love each other for the sake of Allah," and His saying, exalted be He, on the Day of Resurrection: "Where are those who loved each other for My Glory? Today I will shade them with My shade on a Day when there is no shade but My shade." Among the ways to make others love you for the sake of Allah are: greeting with peace, informing them that you love them, giving gifts, having good character, and overlooking mistakes.
