Why do Muslim and non-Muslim friends hurt and mistreat the questioner, despite him repeatedly helping them?

Islam is a religion of good morals, and any bad behavior emanating from some Muslims does not represent the religion. In fact, Islam may differentiate in treatment between a Muslim and a non-Muslim, prohibiting initiating greetings of peace with a non-Muslim or showing submissiveness to them, in order to demonstrate the glory of Islam. As for those who disbelieve in Allah and show enmity towards His messengers, they should not expect Muslims to welcome them. However, Islam does not command unjustified ill-treatment; rather, it commands benevolence even towards non-belligerent disbelievers. If a Muslim treats another Muslim harshly, it might be a disciplinary measure for sins committed, or due to the nature of some people, and in such cases, patience is advised.
