What is the number of pronouncements of divorce upon the wife, considering that the questioner swore by divorce twice, in 1987 and 1990, and divorced his wife three consecutive times in one quarrel in 2020 after saying to her "you are divorced" for the first time?

If a man swears an oath of divorce and then breaks it, his wife is divorced from him according to the majority of scholars. Some scholars hold that this depends on his intention: if he intended divorce, it occurs; but if he intended emphasis and deterrence, then he owes an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yamin). Swearing by divorce or by other than Allah is forbidden in Islamic law. As for a man saying to his wife, "You are divorced," this constitutes a divorce by the consensus of scholars, whether he said it seriously or in jest, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There are three matters, the seriousness of which is serious, and the jest of which is serious: marriage, divorce, and revocation [of divorce]." If he says to her, "You are divorced, you are divorced, you are divorced," then if he intended emphasis, it is a single divorce. If he did not intend anything, it is also a single divorce. But if he intended to pronounce it three times, then she is irrevocably divorced (baynunah kubra) from him. It is advisable to refer to the Sharia court to rule on such matters.
