Is it permissible for a husband to ask his wife to work and bring money for living expenses, knowing that he has not fulfilled his promises, does not spend on her, leaves her alone, and their marriage has not been officially documented? And is she entitled to seek a divorce from him?

A wife has the right to a suitable dwelling and maintenance from her husband, in a reasonable manner. If he does not provide maintenance, she may take from his money what is sufficient for her and her child's needs. He is not obligated to provide her with residence with him unless she stipulated it. However, he should not be absent from her for more than six months without her permission.

The husband must be just among his wives, even if one of them is in another country; this does not negate his obligation of justice.

The husband should bring joy to his wife and treat her well. It is not a condition to inform the first wife when marrying a second, though doing so would be preferable.
