Are the People of the Qur'an who are proficient in memorizing, reciting, and intoning it, and who act upon it to the best of their ability, in the highest rank of Paradise (Firdaws al-A'la)? And is the rank of a man with these characteristics – a memorizer of the Qur'an, a reciter, a jurist, a memorizer of the Two Sahihs, fasting by day, praying by night, of good character, enjoining good and forbidding evil, diligent in performing obligations and supererogatory prayers, and of pure intention – the same as that of mere memorizers if they are already in the highest rank of Paradise?

The companion of the Quran, who will be told on the Day of Judgment, "Recite and ascend and
recite rhythmically," is the one who constantly recites it, acts upon it, and ponders its
meaning. Acting upon the Quran is fundamental, and mere recitation and memorization are not
enough to attain high ranks in Paradise. Rather, one must ponder its verses and act upon them,
and this applies equally to men and women.
