Which is more preferable: following the muezzin or performing the "tahiyyat al-masjid" (greeting of the mosque) upon entering the mosque on Friday during the second adhan, with the aim of following the khutbah (sermon) from its beginning?

If you enter the mosque on Friday while the muezzin is calling the second adhan, pray two light rak'ahs as "Tahiyat al-Masjid" (greeting the mosque), then sit down. Following the muezzin is a sunnah, but the Friday sermon is more important. Delaying one's arrival on Friday causes one to miss out on great good, for the hadiths encourage early arrival. "Whoever comes in the first hour, it is as if he sacrificed a camel; and whoever comes in the second hour, it is as if he sacrificed a cow; and whoever comes in the third hour, it is as if he sacrificed a horned ram; and whoever comes in the fourth hour, it is as if he sacrificed a chicken; and whoever comes in the fifth hour, it is as if he sacrificed an egg. And when the Imam ascends the pulpit, the angels fold up their scrolls."
