Should one sit or stand upon entering the mosque during the Adhan?

If someone enters the mosque while the muezzin is calling the Adhan, they should first respond to the muezzin, then supplicate with the prescribed supplication after the Adhan, and then pray Tahiyyat al-Masjid (greeting the mosque prayer). However, if this occurs during the second Adhan of Friday (Jumu'ah), some scholars say that one should pray Tahiyyat al-Masjid and not respond to the muezzin, in order to listen to the khutbah (this is the view of the Hanbali school). Others say that one should respond to the muezzin and then pray Tahiyyat al-Masjid (this is the view of the Shafi'i school).
