The answer

Fear of death is natural, and it is required to remember it and prepare for it, as stated in the Hadith: "Remember often the destroyer of pleasures [i.e., death]." However, it should not reach the point of obsession and hinder one from working. Death has fixed times that neither advance nor delay, as stated in His Almighty's saying: "And for every nation is a [specified] term. So when their time comes, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]." Moderation is advised in all matters, along with diligently pursuing studies and performing religious duties such as the obligatory prayers, as these are the dearest deeds by which one draws near to Allah. Then, increase in supererogatory good deeds, provided they do not affect one's studies, and in the remembrance of Allah Almighty, by which hearts find reassurance.
