What deeds save us from Hellfire?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The greatest thing that protects people from the Fire is the realization of Tawhid (monotheism) and sincerity to Allah Almighty, and dying upon that, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah has forbidden the Fire for anyone who says 'There is no god but Allah,' seeking thereby the Face of Allah." There are other deeds whose doer Allah has promised will not enter the Fire but will enter Paradise. Among them are: martyrdom in the way of Allah, as the hadith mentioned six characteristics of the martyr. And among them are: weeping out of fear of Allah, guarding in the way of Allah, maintaining the Fajr (dawn) and Asr (afternoon) prayers, and presenting three children, as in his saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever presents three of his children, will not enter the Fire except for the fulfillment of an oath." For further details, one can refer to my books "At-Targhib wa At-Tarhib" and "Al-Matjar Ar-Rabih."
