What are the deeds for which the doer is rewarded by the Fire not touching them?

The basis for achieving Paradise and being saved from Hellfire is obedience to Allah and His Messenger, by doing what they have commanded and refraining from what they have forbidden. Disobeying them is a cause for entering Hellfire.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, specifically mentioned some deeds whose doer Allah has forbidden from Hellfire, to encourage people to perform them and perfect them. Among these are:

1. Saying "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah) with sincerity and certainty: "There is no one who bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, truthfully from his heart, except that Allah will forbid him from the Fire." "Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Allah will forbid him from the Fire." "Indeed, Allah has forbidden from the Fire anyone who says 'La ilaha illa Allah' seeking thereby the Face of Allah."

2. Good character and gentleness: "Shall I not inform you of those who are forbidden from the Fire, or for whom the Fire is forbidden? It is every person who is close, easy-going, and gentle."

3. Dusting of the feet in the cause of Allah: "Whoever's feet become dusty in the cause of Allah, Allah will forbid him from the Fire." "Whoever's feet become dusty in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, for an hour during the day, they are forbidden to the Fire."

4. Prayer (Salat): "Allah has forbidden the Fire from consuming the marks of prostration." "Whoever maintains the five daily prayers, observing their ablution, their timings, their bowing, and their prostration, considering them a right of Allah upon him, will be forbidden from the Fire."

5. Maintaining four rak'ahs before Dhuhr and four after it: "Whoever maintains four rak'ahs before Dhuhr and four after it, Allah will forbid him from the Fire."

6. Remembrance of Allah and His Oneness at the time of death: "Whoever is granted these at his death, the Fire will not touch him" (after mentioning the supplications of monotheism).

7. Weeping out of fear of Allah, and guarding in the cause of Allah: "Two eyes will not be touched by the Fire: an eye that wept out of fear of Allah, and an eye that spent the night guarding in the cause of Allah."

8. Lowering the gaze: "Three whose eyes will not see the Fire: an eye that guarded in the cause of Allah, an eye that wept out of fear of Allah, and an eye that refrained from looking at what Allah has forbidden."

9. Patience over the loss of a child: "No Muslim has three children die and is touched by the Fire, except to fulfill an oath." "Whoever buries three children, Allah will forbid the Fire from him."
