Will one who was righteous throughout his life and died a bad death enter the Fire, in affirmation of the Prophet's (PBUH) hadith, or not, and can this be definitively asserted?

Whoever dies upon Tawhid (monotheism) and has not committed anything that nullifies it, but dies while having committed some sins, is under the Will of Allah. He may enter Hellfire and be punished for his sins, then eventually enter Paradise, or Allah may forgive him from the outset. This is supported by texts from the Quran and Sunnah, and the consensus of the early Muslims (Salaf). Allah Almighty says: (Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked: "Even if he commits adultery and even if he steals?" He replied: "Even if he commits adultery and even if he steals." In the story of the man whose knuckles were cut off, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Allah, forgive him and his hands." The People of the Sunnah are in consensus that the perpetrator of a sin who has not repented is not a disbeliever, nor is he definitively condemned to Hellfire; rather, he is subject to Allah's Will.
