The question

What should a young man do who has memorized the Holy Quran at the age of nineteen, yet feels remiss for not having learned anything new from the vast sciences of religion? And what is your advice to his friends in a similar situation? How should he begin learning, along with mentioning titles of matters that should be learned gradually, and some reliable books and references?

The answer

It is recommended to continue seeking knowledge, as it is a safeguard for the soundness of the caller's conduct to God and a protection for his call from deviance and straying. God did not command His Prophet to increase in anything except knowledge: "And say, 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'" If scholars are unavailable, knowledge can be sought through their recordings available online or by contacting the Open Islamic Academy.
