Is it permissible to own particles of gold remaining in company mills after the maintenance of stone-grinding machines that contain raw gold?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The gold remaining in the grinding machine belongs to the owner of the crushed stones, and it is not permissible to take it without their permission, based on the Almighty's saying: "O you who have believed, do not consume one another's properties unjustly, but only [in lawful] trade by mutual consent." And based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The property of a Muslim is not lawful except with his willing consent."

If the stones belong to a single entity (a company or an individual), then the remaining gold belongs to that entity and must be returned to it, or permission must be sought to take it.

However, if the stones belong to multiple owners, and from each grinding process, an amount remains that is difficult to retrieve, and custom dictates forbearance regarding it, and this amount transfers from one grinding to another, then this remaining amount, which can be taken during the maintenance of the mills, belongs to the company. It is not permissible for the workers to take it except with the company's permission.
