Is it permissible for a wife to compel her husband to spend on luxuries, knowing that he spends that money to avoid her harm, and she retorts to him with Hind's saying: "Take what suffices you and your child righteously (with equity)"?

Whoever is blessed by Allah with a righteous wife should praise and thank Allah. He is obligated to spend on her and his children with what is reasonable, without extravagance or miserliness, and to provide housing according to his capacity. He is not obligated to give his wife money for her personal expenses as long as he has spent on her and the children. However, exceeding the obligatory for strengthening affection is recommended. What is taken from the husband out of shyness or without his full consent is not permissible for the wife, because the 'sword of shyness' is like coercion. It is advised not to be restrictive with the wife and to spend on her according to custom and capacity. It is not permissible for the wife to burden the husband beyond his capacity.
