The conditions for cutting off the hand of a thief can reach a dozen conditions, including: the stolen item reaching the (minimum value), that it was taken secretly from a protected place, that it be something respected, that the stolen item not belong to some of the thief's relatives or his servant, that the thief be an adult, sane, intentional, acting by choice, not compelled, not entrusted with the stolen item, not a partner in it, and that the theft be proven by evidence or confession, and that the news reach the ruler, and that the owner of the stolen item file a complaint.
