Does the reward for the deeds of the living reach the dead?

The reward for the good deeds of the living, such as supplication, charity, and Hajj, reaches the deceased by consensus. As for other deeds, there is a difference of opinion. Some scholars believe that their reward does not reach the deceased, citing the Almighty's saying: "And that man will not have except what he endeavored for," with the exception of what is specifically indicated by evidence, such as "When a son of Adam dies, his deeds cease except for three..." Others believe that the deceased benefits from every act of obedience whose reward is dedicated to them, because whoever performs a deed owns its reward and has the right to bestow it, and nothing prevents this except disbelief.
