What is the authenticity of the narration from the Mother of Believers, Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, concerning the Isra and Mi'raj: "I did not miss the body of the Messenger of Allah, but rather his soul was taken on the nocturnal journey"?

The statement attributed to Aisha and Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Isra' (Night Journey) was solely a spiritual experience (with the soul only) is incorrect. It has a weak and broken chain of narration. Ibn Ishaq narrated it from an unknown source, and the narrator from Mu'awiyah did not meet him. Furthermore, Aisha's statement "I did not miss [him]" is evidence of its incorrectness, as she was not married to the Prophet (peace be upon him) at the time of the Isra'. Some scholars have judged it to be fabricated and unfit for use as an argument, and that the Isra' was a journey of both the soul and the body.
