Is a person considered a traveler if he moves to live 100 kilometers away from his family, and then prays shortened and combined prayers when visiting them?

If a traveler intends to stay more than four days in a place he is visiting, he is considered a resident and is required to complete the prayer, according to the majority of scholars. Others hold that he may shorten the prayer unless he intends an indefinite stay.

If he intends to stay for four days or less, and he has a wife in that town, he should complete the prayer and not shorten it, based on the saying of Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him: "If a man takes a wife in a town, he prays therein the prayer of a resident."

However, if he does not have a wife in that town, and he does not intend to stay more than four days, he may shorten the prayer, even if he has parents or siblings there, as long as he has settled in another place.
