Will one be absolved of responsibility before Allah if the grandfather forgives the thief for the stolen money without knowing the perpetrator?

Exoneration from financial obligations requires informing the right-holder of the amount of money taken from him, and a general exoneration is not sufficient. However, the right-holder knowing the person who took the right is not a condition; the validity of the exoneration is achieved even if the right-holder does not know the identity of the person who took his money. Al-Qurtubi deduced that repentance from injustices against people is not valid except by returning the right, and if one is unable, then by resolving to pay it when capable. If the harm is to someone who is unaware of it, then the harm should be removed, and forgiveness and repentance sought from them. If they forgive, the sin is dropped, whether the wronged person knows the identity of the oppressor or not.
