Will a husband be held accountable on the Day of Judgment for not raising his children, taking care of their affairs, and teaching them prayer and morals, if his children's custody is with his ex-wife?

If the spouses separate, custody belongs to the mother, even if she is disobedient (nashiz), unless there is a legitimate impediment.

If there is a dispute regarding the mother's eligibility for custody, the matter must be referred to the Sharia court for resolution.

The father must ensure the care, upbringing, and education of his children, whether they are in his custody or their mother's. He has the right to visit them with their mother, discipline them, and send them to school.

The father is advised to reconcile with his wife and strive for her betterment; perhaps Allah will mend her ways and the children's.
