Is the heaviness in acts of worship, quickness to sin, loss of devotion (khushu'), and lack of desire to recite the Qur’an and perform night prayers that the questioner is experiencing, a sign of Allah’s wrath upon him due to his continued viewing of pornography and practicing masturbation? And if it is not wrath, how can he return to his previous righteous state, make himself swift in obedience and slow in sin, and how can he avoid sins committed in seclusion, especially since he stays up for Fajr prayer and is alone?

Your feeling of guilt and shortcomings is a good sign and an indication that your heart is alive. So, utilize this feeling to start a new page in your relationship with Allah by obeying Him and abandoning sins, for sins distance one from Allah and hinder from acts of obedience. Do not despair of Allah's pardon and forgiveness. Turn to Him, relying on Him, repenting to Him sincerely, for He will assist you. And no matter how much you sin, hasten to repent. You must frequently supplicate, truly rely on Allah, strive against your lower self, distance yourself from the causes of sin, keep company with righteous people, and ponder upon Allah's names and attributes, death, and the Day of Judgment. And beware of despairing of Allah's mercy, for it is one of Satan's stratagems to deter the believer from repentance.
