What is the ruling on a wife insulting her husband, and what are the Prophetic hadiths mentioned in that regard?

Allah has legislated marital rights for the building of families, and each spouse has a right over the other that must be fulfilled, as stated in His Almighty words: (And due to them [the wives] is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable), and His saying: (Retention [of a wife] is to be with honor or a gracious release), and His saying: (And do not forget graciousness between you).

A wife who mistreats her husband by cursing him, invoking curses upon him, and insulting his relatives commits a great sin and forbidden acts, as she disobeys Allah's command and her obedience to her husband. Cursing a Muslim is an act of wickedness (fisq), and insulting him is a sin. What then of the husband, whom Allah commanded to be accorded greater obedience and veneration? She must repent and apologize to her husband and his family.

Obedience to the husband is one of the greatest deeds that bring a wife closer to Allah. For "any woman who dies while her husband is pleased with her will enter Paradise," and "if I were to command anyone to prostrate to another, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband." She is a shepherdess over her husband's household and his children and is responsible for her flock. Therefore, she must repent, feel remorse, and fulfill her husband's rights.
