Is it permissible for men to wear silver, such as chains, rings, and bracelets?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible for a man to wear a silver ring, to have the pommel of his sword made of silver, and to wear a silver-adorned belt according to some scholars. As for other than that, silver is forbidden for men according to some scholars, or it is disliked. It is forbidden for a man to wear chains or bracelets for adornment, whether they are made of silver or otherwise, due to the resemblance to women therein. This is the correct view, because silver ornaments are specific to women, and because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed men who imitate women.
