Is it permissible for men to use rosaries and medallions made of silver?

All praise is due to Allah. It is impermissible for men to use silver except for a ring, by consensus. As for other silver ornaments such as bracelets, armlets, and necklaces, they are forbidden for them. Scholars have adduced proof for the prohibition of men using silver by analogy with the prohibition of eating and drinking from silver vessels, as mentioned in the prophetic hadiths. The prohibition encompasses all forms of use, such as perfuming oneself and applying kohl, and so on.
