What are the prescribed penalties for one who committed immoral acts such as sodomy, adultery, drinking alcohol, and theft before his repentance, and do these penalties cease to apply to him by their establishment in this world?

Sincere repentance, with its conditions, erases sins, for the one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. It is not required of someone who committed a sin necessitating a legal punishment (hadd) to expose himself; rather, it is better for him to conceal himself with Allah's concealment. He should increase in righteous deeds because good deeds do away with evil deeds.
