Is it permissible to establish a prayer area for women in the front section of the old mosque, separated by a wall from the men, given that the imam's position in the new extension will be ahead of the women's prayer area, and some rows of men will be behind the women's prayer area, and is the permission of the waqf administrator required for this?

It is permissible to create a women's prayer area (musalla) in the old mosque under certain conditions: that the old mosque and the extension function as a single mosque, that women can follow the movements of the Imam either through audio and video, or audio only, or by seeing some of the congregants, and that the rows of women are behind the Imam. This is while taking into consideration the jurisprudential difference of opinion regarding the condition of there being no large barrier wall between the women's prayer area and the Imam. The permission of the endower (waqif) for this extension is not required; rather, the approval of the supervisors and directors of endowments is sufficient, because the extension does not contradict the endower's intention, which is prayer.
