Why did Islam favor men over women in matters such as the Aqiqah, considering women to be 'awrah (nakedness), punishing women for not obeying their husbands, allowing polygyny for men but not polyandry for women, permitting a husband to hit his wife, and granting men the enjoyment of Al-Hur Al-’Ain in Paradise but not women?

It was by God's wisdom that He differentiated between male and female, as He, the Almighty, said: {And the male is not like the female}. This differentiation is inherent and cosmic, and even societies that advocate for complete equality apply it, by assigning specific jobs, sports, and clothes to each gender. If they accept differentiation when it suits them, then why do they not accept what Allah, the Most Knowing of His creation, has ordained?

The preference of men over women mentioned in His saying, the Almighty: {Men are maintainers of women}, is a preference for the male gender over the female gender in general, not a preference for all individual men over all individual individual women. A Muslim must be content with the law of Allah and submit to the fact that whatever is correctly attributed to the Sharia is truth and justice, even if its wisdom is not apparent.

Ibn al-Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him - clarified the wisdom behind the differentiation between males and females in some rulings. He made them equal in physical acts of worship and legal punishments for a common good, and differentiated between them in Friday prayer, congregational prayer, and jihad due to the particularity of women. He made a woman's testimony half of a man's due to her weaker recall and focus on the emotional aspect. Her blood money is half of a man's due to her lower societal value compared to a man and his role. Her inheritance is less because a man is more in need of money since he is the maintainer of the woman.

Islam did not prevent women from crossing the street or interacting with men, provided there are legitimate Islamic controls. Rather, it commanded her to observe hijab and not to speak in an alluring manner, and protected her from degradation. It did not consider a woman's voice as 'awrah (something that must be concealed), but forbade her from speaking in an alluring manner. The statement that a woman is punished if she does not respond to her husband while he is not punished is incorrect. A woman is commanded to be a good wife, and a man is commanded to treat his wife kindly. The statement that the Prophet, peace be upon him, beat his wife is a slander, as Aisha denied it. Beating women for disciplinary purposes is permissible under strict conditions. Polygyny for men but not for women is among the virtues and wisdom of the Sharia. A man is not to be blamed for his heart inclining towards one of his wives as long as he treats them justly, because his heart is not in his control. The question about a woman's delight in Paradise with one husband and a man's with the houris has been answered previously.
