What is the ruling on marrying a Christian woman who drinks alcohol and associates with men, even though she commits to being present with her husband when he meets his friends? Is the husband sinful for her actions? Will the husband be rewarded for his patience with her and for inviting her to Islam? And what is the interpretation of the noble verse: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another"?

It is permissible to marry a chaste woman of the People of the Book, over whom the husband has guardianship, and over his children from her, and provided there is no fear of the children falling into disbelief. However, it is not recommended. The husband must prevent his wife from the People of the Book from becoming intoxicated, and it is not permissible for the woman to befriend men who are strangers to her. The husband is advised to clearly express his rejection to his wife of her drinking alcohol and befriending men. If she complies, he should continue with her in inviting her (to righteousness), but if she insists, he should divorce her.
