Is frequent internet usage and paying for it considered extravagance?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The internet is a means of acquiring knowledge and a double-edged sword. Whoever is able to benefit from it without harm is permitted to do so, provided they are secure from harm, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no harm nor reciprocal harm." However, whoever fears harm must avoid it. If it is used for entertainment, it should not be prolonged, in order to preserve time and money. Exceeding the bounds of moderation in its use is considered forbidden extravagance.
