What are the consequences of a mother saying to her husband, "By the face of Allah, by the face of Allah, by the face of Allah, and by the face of your father in his grave, never enter this house"? And is expiation (kaffarah) required of her?

The mother's statement "by the face of Allah" or "by your father's face" can be interpreted in two ways:

1. That she swore an oath: Swearing by the Face of Allah is permissible, and an expiation (kaffarah) for breaking an oath is required if the husband disobeys. Swearing by the face of one's father is not permissible, and one must repent from it. No expiation is required because an oath is not validly constituted by a created being.

2. That she made a request: If she asked, "by the Face of Allah" or "by your father's face," for him not to enter, and then he entered, no expiation is required from her, as this does not constitute an oath.
