What is the way to help someone like me who has entrusted a deposit seeking assistance to get rid of their behavior?

If someone seeks your advice to help them abandon evil deeds, then it appears obligatory to advise them if you are capable of doing so and are safe from harm to yourself. This is based on the command to cooperate in righteousness and piety, and on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Religion is advice." Advice is necessary to the best of one's ability if the advisor knows their advice will be accepted and is safe from harm to themselves; otherwise, they are at liberty. Advice includes assisting Muslims in good deeds through words and actions. If he comes to you asking for it, this further confirms the matter, based on the hadith: "And if he seeks your advice, then advise him." So, if you are safe from harm to yourself, you must help and advise him. But if you fear being drawn into his evil deeds, then distance yourself from him, for preserving one's religion takes precedence over everything.
