What is the wisdom behind the prohibition of eating the hoopoe and the frog, knowing that the hoopoe that was with our Prophet Solomon is no thing of the past, and that all creatures glorify their Lord with His praise?

Scholars differ on the ruling of eating the hoopoe. The Malikis permit it, while the Hanbalis have differing opinions on it. However, the majority of scholars hold the view that it is forbidden. The majority bases their prohibition on the injunction against killing it, as it is authentically reported in the Hadith (definition) that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the killing of four animals: the ant, the bee, the hoopoe, and the shrike. They are of the view that this prohibition implies the unlawfulness of its meat and has no connection to the story of the hoopoe with Prophet Solomon, peace be upon him.
