What is the ruling of the Sharia on returning a husband's insult with a similar insult?

Spouses must live together honorably and fulfill all rights, in accordance with the noble verses. It was characteristic of the pious women of the past that if their husband became angry, the wife would hasten to appease him. The hadith (definition) indicates the virtue of this: "Shall I not inform you of the best of your women in Paradise? The affectionate, the fertile, the one who returns to her husband (after a dispute), who, when wronged, says: 'This is my hand in your hand, I shall not taste sleep until you are pleased.'"

If an insult is issued by the husband, the woman should review herself: If the reason was her rebelliousness, the solution lies in dialogue and reconciliation. If the husband is unjust, it is better to be patient and reward his wrongdoing with kindness, as this is more likely to resolve the dispute. She should also negotiate with him. If she cannot bear it, she is permitted to retaliate in kind without exceeding the limit, as Allah Almighty says: "And the retribution for an evil act is an evil act of the like thereof."
