What is the reason for the variation in the numbering and arrangement of verses in the Qur'ans with the recitation of Warsh, such as the difference in Surat al-Kahf and Maryam?

The reason for the difference in the number of verses in the two printed Qur'ans according to the narration of Warsh from Nafi' is due to the difference in the method of counting. One counts according to the Medinan count (6214 verses), and the other according to the Kufan count (6236 verses). The Kufan count considers the opening letters of surahs, such as (كٓهيعٓصٓ), as independent verses, whereas the Medinan count does not.
