Why did Allah permit a Muslim man to marry a Kitabiyyah (a woman from among the People of the Book), but forbid a Muslim woman from marrying a Kitabi (a man from among the People of the Book), even though both (the Kitabi and the Kitabiyyah) are disbelievers?

Allah Almighty differentiated in His Book between the marriage of a Muslim man to a Christian or Jewish woman, which He permitted and made lawful, even while deeming her an unbeliever, and the marriage of a Muslim woman to a Christian or Jewish man or any other unbeliever, which He prohibited and decisively forbade through explicit text.
