Is the funeral prayer obligatory for a severed limb, such as a leg or an arm?

If a limb is amputated during a person's lifetime, it is neither washed nor prayed over. However, if a limb is found from a deceased person, scholars have differed:

Hanafi school: They do not consider it permissible to pray over it unless most of the body is found. Al-Kasani said: "And one does not pray over a part of a human until most of him is found, according to us." Maliki school: One does not pray over it unless two-thirds or more of the body is found, or half or more with the head. Shafi'i and Hanbali schools: They consider it permissible to pray over a limb such as a hand or a foot, and this is the most preponderant view, provided that the owner of the limb has died. Al-Nawawi and Ibn Qudamah mentioned the consensus of the Companions on praying over limbs, such as Abu Ayyub's prayer over a leg, Umar's prayer over bones, and the people of Mecca's prayer over the hand of Abd al-Rahman ibn Attab.
