Is it permissible for a woman to go to a male hairdresser who is skilled in his work and of good character, and to discuss her personal matters with him?

It is unanimously forbidden for a woman to go to a non-mahram man to cut and style her hair, even if he is more skilled than women. This is because it involves revealing 'awrah (intimate parts), forbidden physical contact, and inviting temptation. It is also forbidden for her guardian to consent to or permit this. Allah the Almighty says: "And let them draw their headcovers over their bosoms and not reveal their adornment except to their husbands or their fathers" (An-Nur: 31).
