Does the Sunnah decree hatred and detestation for all Jews, or only for the aggressor faction among them?
Hatred varies according to its causes and motives. The disbelief of a disbeliever in Allah is sufficient for the existence of the core of hatred, just as Allah does not love the disbelievers and is an enemy to them. A believer loves those whom Allah loves and hates those whom He hates. Despite this hatred, a peaceful disbeliever, or one with whom a covenant has been made, or a dhimmi, has rights that must be fulfilled and boundaries that must not be transgressed. This is in contrast to the warring disbeliever who fights Muslims; for such a one, hatred intensifies and magnifies commensurate with their crimes. The Quran differentiated in enmity between types of disbelievers, making the Jews the most intense in enmity towards the believers.
