What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a father who compels his son to divorce his wife or take another wife in order to appease him, after the son demanded his right from his brother?
The two partners must not betray or wrong each other, for that brings blessings, as stated in the Almighty's words: "And indeed, many of the partners oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, and few are they." And in the Qudsi: "Allah says: I am the third of the two partners as long as one of them does not betray his companion. If he betrays him, I depart from between them." The husband has the right to sue his brother, and if he has no proof, he can demand an oath. If he swears falsely, he will not succeed, and Allah will provide the husband with good fortune. There is no obedience to the husband's father in demanding divorce or marriage to a second woman if that is out of obstinacy. Patience and wisdom are advised, and evil should be met with good. The father and brother should fear Allah.
