What is the ruling on boys and girls studying together in kindergarten?

Children are a trust (amana) and must be raised well. A boy studying with girls—even in kindergarten—holds no benefit; rather, it entails harm. This is due to the boy becoming accustomed to intermingling (ikhtilat) and his morals and behavior being affected by those of the girls. Frequent interaction leads to resemblance and a desire to imitate. Therefore, separating boys and girls at this stage is the correct educational approach, as Islamic law is built upon warding off harm and securing benefits.
