What is the ruling on someone who swore by "By God, I will not eat food that you prepare with your hands," and then said to his wife, "By God, you will not be my wife, nor will I be a husband to you, nor will I have intercourse with you"?

A husband's statement to his wife, "By Allah, I will not eat food made by your hands," is an oath by Allah. If he breaks it and eats, he must offer expiation for breaking an oath. It is preferable that he breaks it to mend her feelings.

Regarding his statement, "By Allah, I will not have sexual intercourse with you": if he intends to abandon sexual intercourse, he may retract it with expiation for breaking an oath. If he intends to abandon sexual intercourse for a period exceeding four months, it is an ila' (vow of abstinence), which is harmful to the wife and impermissible.

Regarding his statement, "You will not be my wife or I will not be a husband to you": if he intends by it an oath to divorce her, then he either divorces her (thus fulfilling his oath) or he does not divorce her (thus breaking his oath, and expiation for breaking an oath becomes obligatory upon him).

It is advised to control anger.
