What is the meaning of the hadith "النساء ناقصات عقل ودين"?
The meaning of the Prophetic "deficient in intellect and religion": The deficiency in a woman's intellect is due to her weaker memory, and her testimony is supplemented by the testimony of another woman to ensure accuracy, as mentioned in the verse, "that if one of them errs, then the other can remind her." Her deficiency in religion is due to her abstaining from prayer and fasting during menstruation and postpartum bleeding, and not making up the prayers. This deficiency is not a matter of blame, but rather a kindness and facilitation from Allah. This does not necessarily imply a deficiency in her intellect or religion in all matters. A woman may sometimes surpass a man in many things, and her good deeds may be numerous. This deficiency does not prevent reliance on her in narration and testimony if supplemented, nor does it prevent her piety and her being among the best of Allah's servants.
